Wedgewood Pharmacy compounds thyroid tablets during manufacturer backorder of Armour Thyroid tablets

Wedgewood Pharmacy announced today that it is compounding thyroid tablets in response to physician demand during the long-term backorder of Forest Laboratories’ Armour Thyroid tablets. Compounded using Thyroid USP powder, a naturally occurring thyroid, Wedgewood Pharmacy’s scored tablets are available by prescription in 15mg, 30mg, 60mg and 120mg, with prices ranging from $21 to $25 per 100-count bottle. Thyroid tablets are commonly prescribed by physicians to treat hypothyroidism.

George J. Malmberg, R.Ph., F.A.C.A., F.A.C.V.P, the pharmacist president and chief executive officer of Wedgewood Pharmacy (Swedesboro NJ) was the 55th recipient of the Annual Alumni Award from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP) of the University of the Sciences. It is the school’s highest alumni recognition, given for outstanding contributions to the profession, science and mankind. Malmberg, a resident of Wilmington DE, received the award at a ceremony Saturday evening.

Cyclosporine Therapy in Veterinary Dermatology

Many studies have focused on canine atopic dermatitis, and now there is substantial evidence that cyclosporine is efficacious in treating this common condition. In addition, cyclosporine has been used to treat a number of recalitrant skin diseases, ranging from canine perianal fistulas to feline eosinophilic granuloma complex.

Tiny Tabs are about one-half the size of a tic tac® breath mint and cost up to 70% less than other dosage forms, such as capsules.
