Cool the pooch in summer with fruity frozen pupsicles

Cool the pooch in summer with fruity, frozen 'pupsicles'

As the temperatures rise, help your dogs beat the heat with "pupsicles," a nutritious, frozen treat.

"Regular treats are pretty much like giving a dog a potato chip," said Todd Ruppenthal, owner of the Happy Husky Bakery, a pet bakery in Evanston.

So, why not make dogs a healthy snack that they will love instead?

This veterinarian approved, pup-tested recipe for "pupsicles" uses only three all-natural ingredients full of vitamins and protein: bananas, plain yogurt and orange juice.

While you wait for the treats to freeze, take your four-legged friend to the park for some exercise. When you return, your dog can cool down with these fruity favorites. You can even try this treat yourself.
